Debora A Terkay RN, MS As a nurse since 1979, I have enjoyed a variety of specialties and supervisory and training positions. However, my love of technology, its uses in healthcare quality improvement, is a focus I have established over the past 5 years. As a lifelong learner, I anticipate a June 2003 graduation with a Master's of Science degree in Management and Technology. I have begun to research career opportunities in this field and have found a perfect marriage of my strengths, interest and healthcare in the informatics arena. Mr. Trathowen graduated in 1981 from the School of Computer Technology’s Applied Business Programming curriculum. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps’ and left for recruit training in Parris Island, SC. after graduation. Mr. Trathowen’s first military occupational specialty was as a mainframe computer operator and he served in this capacity in Camp LeJeune, NC; Iwakuni, Japan; and Quantico, VA. While at Quantico, he attended the Marine Corps’s data production control course and worked in that capacity only a short time. At Camp Pendleton, CA, Mr. Trathowen worked in the deployed computer environment. While there, he served in Somalia and attended the Corps’ mainframe systems programming course back in Quantico, VA. Mr. Trathowen returned to Camp Pendleton, CA for duty and then was sent to Okinawa, Japan. While in Okinawa, he transitioned from the mainframe side of computers to the PC and computer networking. Mr. Trathowen attended several Banyan Network engineering courses and then attended the Corps’ Advanced Networking course, again in Quantico, VA. After returning from Okinawa, he was stationed at Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps where Mr. Trathowen worked in the planning section for the CIO of the Marine Corps. He retired in August, 2001 and began working for a local computer company as a client manager. His duties included managing networks for those clients who did not have permanent IT personnel on staff. In June 2003, Mr. Trathowen attended a nursing assistant’s course. In January, 2004 he joined his current employer, Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville, PA as a Patient Care Associate. Mr. Trathowen will graduate from the Citizens School of Nursing in June 2007.
