Nursing Informatics Director

Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters Health System is Virginia’s only free-standing, full-service acute care pediatric hospital, treating children from birth through age 21, and the site of the states only dedicated pediatric emergency center.  CHKD is a not-for-profit health care facility and teaching hospital licensed with 186 beds, treating more than 6,000 children annually as inpatients and more than 85,000 as outpatients.  The emergency center treats an additional 30,000 children each year.

Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters Health System is currently recruiting for a Nursing Informatics Director.

Successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership, administration and supervision in the planning, research, development and implementation of clinical information systems and services in support of the nursing community and will be responsible for continually increasing the utilization and acceptance of clinical information systems by nursing in order to improve the delivery of care and other core processes that are compatible with the mission of the health system.

Key selection criteria will focus on current experience and professional knowledge of business, clinical and/or practice theory in the overseeing of planning and implementation of information technology systems.  Either graduate training in Nursing Informatics or clinical information systems implementation experience preferred.  Must hold Virginia State licensure for Registered Nursing.

Graduate Program in Nursing
Faculty Position: Nursing Informatics

The Graduate Program in Nursing is currently seeking applications from a dynamic, energetic nurse with prior graduate level teaching experience and educated in nursing informatics to join the faculty of the MGH Institute of Health Professions.
 
The MGH Institute of Health Professions is an innovative graduate school with post-baccalaureate, entry-level and post-professional programs in clinical investigation, communication sciences and disorders, medical imaging, nursing, and physical therapy.   The Institute is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and the Nursing Program is approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing and accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc.

The MGH Institute is an independent affiliate of the world-renowned Massachusetts General Hospital, which conducts the largest hospital based research program in the country. The Institute also operates within the Partners HealthCare System, offering unparalleled opportunities for students to learn and work alongside expert practitioners.  More than 800 full- and part-time students are enrolled onsite and online.

Responsibilities will include teaching in the advanced practice levels of a newly developed Doctor of Nursing Practice degree program, participating in the development of the curriculum, facilitating development of clinical sites for capstone and residency experiences within the administration elective option, participating in recruitment activities for the program, advising students, and working as a member of the nursing faculty.  Teaching assignments will be based on program need and candidate interest and experience. 

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have an MS in nursing, prior teaching experience at the graduate level, excellent interpersonal skills with evidence of nursing informatics experience, and a strong record of scholarship/research.  Prior experience with grantmanship desirable.  PhD in nursing or a related field preferred with evidence of preparation in nursing informatics.   Commitment to developing an ongoing program of research/scholarship required. Rank and salary commensurate with experience.
